MILWAUKEE -- Six tire valve models that were distributed in 2006 have been recalled due to cracks in the valves that can cause serious accidents. Those who have bought a new car or had tires replaced since 2006 may be at risk.ConsumerReports.org listed the following model numbers of the recalled valves: TR-413 , TR-413 CH , TR-414 , TR-415 , TR-418 and TR-423 .
In order to make sure you don’t have one of these valves, drivers should check their tire pressure at least once a month and inspect the valve for any cracks, according to Consumer Reports. Car owners can check the valves for cracks by flexing them out toward the tire and rotating them.Mechanics can inspect the valve from the inside to know for sure if the valve is part of those that have been recalled. All four tire valve stems should be replaced if a crack is found.
