Gas Station Owner Protests Against Rising Gas Prices

A Mobile gas station owner plans to shut off his pumps in protest of the high gas prices for 24 hours beginning at midnight on Wednesday.

This isn’t the first time that John Schwartz has shut off his pumps in protest of high gas prices. He did the same thing last year and prices did come down. He doesn’t believe that the price drop was on his part alone.

By shutting off the pumps, Schwartz is losing money but, it is a price well paid.

“Of course, I'm losing money even with the gas prices this high, the convenient store is suffering because people are spending the money they do have at the pump so it's extra dollars that they won't be bringing inside even for a donut.”

Schwartz believes that supply and demand is what is driving the prices up. He estimates that he will lost at least several hundred dollars but he has to make his point.

Several other gas station owners said that gas prices will get to $4 per gallon really soon.
