Former Milwaukee Alderman Michael McGee Jr. was charged May 29, 2007, with extortion and bribery, the latest in a string of legal problems for the embattled city official who survived a recall attempt earlier this year.Jury selection for his state trial began May 19, 2008, but was delayed.Testimony in his federal trial started June 16, 2008. He was convicted on all nine counts of bribery, corruption and extortion on June 24.
A judge ruled on July 3 that his state trial will be rescheduled for Dec. 8, 2008.On Oct. 28, a federal judge sentenced McGee to 6½ years in prison.This page will be updated as WISN 12 News follows the story.July 3, 2008
