MILWAUKEE -- A jury has found Michael McGee Jr. on all nine counts in his federal trial.

McGee Supporters Gather At CourthouseThe former Milwaukee alderman faced nine counts of extortion, corruption and bribery and is facing 30 years in prison.
The jury began deliberating shortly after 3 p.m. on Tuesday and came back with a verdict before 9 p.m.He was charged and found guilty with the following:
Count 1: Extortion
Count 2: Corrupt receipt of cash
Count 3: Corrupt receipt of cash
Count 4: Cash transaction reporting
Count 5: Corrupt receipt of cash
Count 6: Extortion
Count 7: Attempted extortion
Count 8: Agreement to corruptly receive cash
Count 9: Corrupt receipt of cash
"There were a lot of courageous citizens that came forward in the face of a lot of opposition, and they deserve a lot of credit," U.S. Attorney Steven Biskupic said.McGee's brother spoke to 12 News reporter Chloe Morroni after the verdict."He was our brother, you know. This is far behind politics for us. This is our brother. (He's) facing a long time. The McGee don't care about politics right now," Jonathan McGee said.Morroni said that Michael McGee showed no reaction in court as the verdict was read and that his supporters also remained quiet.Defense lawyer Calvin Malone said he was disappointed by the verdict and his heart goes out to the McGee family."I'll be with him, and we'll be preparing for sentencing," Malone told 12 News reporter Colleen Henry.McGee is scheduled to be sentenced in the fall, which is about the same time he is expected to go to trial on similar state charges.Malone said it is too soon to discuss plans for an appeal.Wednesday, Milwaukee Mayor TomBarrett released a statement about the verdict."There is no place for corruption in this city, certainly not in City Hall. Business owners have a right to conduct their affairs fairly and legally without the threat of retribution or extortion," Barrett said in a news release.Other Milwaukee Alderpersons
McGee is the fourth Milwaukee alderperson in the past six years to face prison time.Rosa Cameron served eight months behind bars after pleading guilty to misusing federal money in 2002.One year later, Alderman Jeff Pawlinski pleaded guilty to misusing campaign funds and also spent eight months behind bars.Later in 2003, Paul Henningsen was convicted of misusing campaign funds and spent 33 months behind bars.Current Alderman Bob Bonovan was charged with fraud in 2005. Those charges were later dismissed.
