MILWAUKEE -- Six Milwaukee public schools were honored on the state superintendent's annual list of "Promise Schools of Recognition."

The honored schools were Cooper Elementary, Fairview Elementary, Garland Elementary, I.D.E.A.L, Milwaukee's Spanish Immersion School and Morse Middle School

Schools needed to meet certain criteria to earn the recognition.

They also had to have higher reading and math test scores higher than the state average.
