Officers Accused Of Beating Driver's Father Reassigned

Three police officers accused in the beating of the father of Green Bay Packers wide receive Donald Driver have been reassigned.Marvin Driver Jr.said he was severely beaten and drugged after he was arrested for outstanding traffic warrants outside his mother's home in southeast Houston in the 8300 block of Gibbons shortly before 2 a.m. on Monday.The officers Driver has accused, Bacilio Guzman Gilberto Cruz and M. Marin, have been put on administrative duty pending the outcome of an investigation.
Driver's family has hired a private detective and spoken to the Houston Police Department about the allegations.Family members wanted the two officers taken off the streets while the police department looks into their accusations."Well, hopefully the investigation will clear up any of their allegations or what the findings should be. The facts are what they are," Police Chief Harold Hurtt said.Donald Driver spoke briefly about the situation to reporters in the locker room Friday morning."It's one of those things you deal with and move on," Driver said.The wide receiver went down to Texas Thursday to make sure his father was doing OK."He's a tough cookie. He had a smile on his face when I left, and he told me to get back to work."
