Glitches In New Medicaid Billing Computer System

There are some glitches with the switch to a new computer system for billing Medicaid and other state health programs.

The state Department of Health Services said Monday it is working diligently to detect and fix the bugs and minimize disruption for providers during the transition that affects 900,000 Medicaid recipients and 30,000 providers.

On Sunday the system used by pharmacies had to be shut down temporarily because DHS said two files were not interacting correctly. The department said that problem was quickly fixed and no complaints about not being able to fill prescriptions were received.

The department said because of heavy volume the system's current response time may be slower than normal.
