MADISON, Wis. -- Three more University of Wisconsin-Madison students are sick with the norovirus, bringing the total on Thursday to 48.

Health Workers Say UW-Madison Illness Is Likely NorovirusThe Health Center said it first saw students from Sellery Hall, where many of the sickened students live, on Friday.
Campus health officials said students are showing up with symptoms such as stomach cramps and diarrhea. Symptoms usually go away within a day or two.They are asking students to make sure they wash their hands and avoid sharing eating utensils and drinking cups.Health officials on campus are not calling it an outbreak. The university said on Thursday that it is not planning on closing any dormitories.They said they the virus has been contained, but are sanitizing public areas.Parents looking for information can go to at the university’s housing Web site.Norovirous is contagious and is usually found on cruise ships or where people are sharing close living quarters.
