Rebecca Kontowicz, UW-Milwaukee
My name is Rebecca Kontowicz. This fall marks the beginning of my junior year at UW-Milwaukee. I am majoring in both journalism and political science.I currently research and write objective news stories for the city and campus news section of Wisconsin’s largest campus weekly, The UWM Post. I also cover news stories and had written a weekly column for FrontPage Milwaukee, an innovative online newspaper with a statewide audience. As vice president of UW-Milwaukee's chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, I assist in developing and coordinating journalism-related programs and events on campus.
I grew up in Milwaukee, but now reside in the village of Menomonee Falls. Like most starving college students, the majority of my time is consumed with working multiple jobs. However, in my spare time I take great interest in keeping up-to-date on politics, the media and current events.I hope to one day influence the public debate with a career in either media or politics.
